glassybaby is pleased to announce a new glassybaby color that gives back to Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA). The vision behind SCCA, founded in 2001, was to turn cancer patients into cancer survivors by bringing together the research and treatment of doctors and scientists from three renowned institutions: Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, UW Medicine and Seattle Children’s.
You might say we are tickled pink about the choice of color and its new moniker: a beautiful, light pink named ‘goodness’. My friends and family will readily attest to my love of all things pink. I think it started with the fluffy clouds of cotton candy, riding high atop a white paper cone that were a rare and treasured treat of childhood. Many years later, pink is my go-to color for clothing, lipstick, running shoes, stationery and even ice cream. When I’m literally “in the pink”, I’m feeling uplifted and ready to take on the world. in colorful corals
Lately, I can’t seem to get enough of the nature-inspired documentaries that are just a click away on my online movie rental service (thanks Netflix!). So far, I’ve followed a loggerhead turtle on its journey across thousands of miles of ocean, and I’ve watched in awe as a shoal of sardines puts on a choreographed show far better than anything we humans are capable of. But, it was a show highlighting the Great Barrier Reef that really captivated me as its raw and vibrant colors were instantly streamed across my TV screen.
This incredible natural wonder features color combinations that I have never even thought about before. How magnificent! A living, breathing work of art made by nature itself. Sea shells and corals in every shade of the color spectrum, each one just as beautiful as the last. From deep ‘devil dog’ reds and soft blushing ‘lace’ colored corals, to ‘peaceful’ greens and rich ‘eggplant’ purples. These colors dance across the ocean floor and come together in a most beautiful and unexpected way; just like a sea of glassybaby. I won’t even get started on the colors of the sea life that this reef houses. That deserves a blog all to itself.
Needless to say, I was inspired. It’s no wonder the Great Barrier Reef has been labeled one of the seven natural wonders of the world. If I were a loggerhead turtle, I think I know where I’d head for retirement
