24 walkers and eight volunteer crew members came together to make this goal a reality, covering 55 miles in three days.

You can read a first-hand account of the walk, day-by-day, from glassybaby faithful, Trina Chow on her blog. Trina, herself, raised over $14,000 in this inaugural event! In her own words: “Suffice to say: Amazing day, amazing event, amazing friends, amazing experience. So proud, and so honored to have been a part of it all.”

We’re proud and honored of the example you set, Trina!  Heartfelt congratulations to you and everyone that participated and supported your efforts.  There’s still time to donate to the Immediate Impact Breast Cancer Walk. Donations will accepted through October 31, 2012.

light and love shine from City by the Bay

On August 19th, we joined forces with glassybaby faithful, Trina Chow, to help raise money for the Immediate Impact Breast Cancer Walk, which will take place in San Francisco on September 28th through 30th.   Debra and Rae, our Seattle glassybaby contingent, traveled to the City by the Bay with over 400 glassybaby to sell at an event held at the Presidio Landmark.  A heartfelt thank you to everyone that turned out to support this very worthwhile cause. Over $1,200 was raised through event and online sales.

If you missed the roadshow, you can still support the 55-mile, 3-day walk, which will benefit three Bay area non-profit organizations providing services to low-income and under-served breast cancer patients.   For more information, go to www.immediateimpactwalk.org/.

Many of the people attending the sale, including Trina, are members of the Warming Hut Hotties.   The “hotties”, as they like to call themselves, are a group of more than 1,000 men and women who recently celebrated their 10th year as a team.  Together they have walked, crewed, and volunteered in 40 multi-day fundraising events and raised over $2.9 million for the breast cancer cause.

glassybaby is planning another roadshow to San Francisco in December. Additional details will be forthcoming.  To Trina, the Warming Hut Hotties and everyone participating in the inaugural Immediate Impact Breast Cancer Walk, we’ll be thinking of you on the weekend of September 28th.  Thank you for choosing to make a difference.  You inspire us.

On the road again….to San Francisco

As bright and unwavering as the glow from a glassybaby is the inspirational community that has grown up around them.  We never tire of hearing how glassybaby came into someone’s life, and how they are using glassybaby to transform their life and the lives of others.

A favorite customer, who has taken our mission of ‘giving back’ to heart, is Trina Chow.   Trina was given a glassybaby four or five years ago when a friend of hers moved to Seattle.   When Trina next traveled to Seattle, she and her friend visited our Madrona store where she was able to watch our glassblowers creating glassybaby.   Trina discovered her passion for these little vessels of hope and light!

Trina is one of several people planning the inaugural Immediate Impact Breast Cancer Walk, which will take place in San Francisco on September 28-30, 2012.  With the goal of raising $100,000, walk participants will cover 55 miles over three days.  Proceeds will benefit low-income and under-served breast cancer patients in the San Francisco area.

Trina’s latest effort to give back has inspired us to pack up a variety of glassybaby and venture to San Francisco.  On Sunday, August 19th, glassybaby will join forces with Trina at an open-to-the-public event at the Presidio in San Francisco.  Please join us for an afternoon of light, colorlove and giving!  10% of the sales from each glassybaby will be donated to the Immediate Impact Breast Cancer Walk.
