ENTREPRENEUR® MAGAZINE’S AWARD WINNERS REVEALED
ENTREPRENEUR® MAGAZINE'S ENTREPRENEUR OF 2011 - Lee Rhodes Entrepreneur® magazine's Entrepreneur of 2011 contest has selected Lee Rhodes, founder of glassybaby, as Entrepreneur magazine's Entrepreneur of 2011. She is the first woman to receive the award. Out of thousands of entries, Lee was selected as one of five finalists by a panel of judges. Her online profile together with her video was featured on Entrepreneur.com, where visitors chose Lee as their favorite contestant.
"From thousands of entries, glassbaby's Lee Rhodes rose to the top to become the Entrepreneur of 2011," says Amy Cosper, VP and editor in chief of Entrepreneur magazine. "Her handcrafted glass votive candleholders are making their mark in more ways than one. Consumers are falling in love with the artisanal objects d' art-to the tune of $6 million in sales expected for 2011. Even more impressively, Rhodes is a quintessential example of how entrepreneurs are doing good while doing business. She donates a percentage of revenue (not profits) to programs that help meet the needs of cancer patients."

Gilda's Club New York City honors Lee Rhodes
On May 19, glassybaby founder Lee Rhodes received the 2011 It's Always Something Award at the Plaza Hotel, for her dedication to helping cancer patients. The award is named in honor of beloved comedian Gilda Radner, who died of ovarian cancer in 1989 and who once said that people who have cancer are part of the same club.
A three-time cancer survivor, Lee met many other patients during her treatment who could not afford even daily needs such as bus fare, childcare, or groceries. Today, much of the money donated by glassybaby goes directly toward meeting those basic needs.
Appropriately, "happiness" is the Gilda's Club NYC goodwill color: 10% of its sales go back to support that club's good work. Lee is deeply grateful for this recognition, but proud most of all that glassybaby can help Gilda's Club continue spreading a little light. Indeed, it's always something.
