"The rancher in the red suit"

SEATTLE, WA – Seattle sensation glassybaby makes it easy to give a gift of warmth and meaning this holiday season. There have been 469 different glassybaby colors produced to date, with 53 seasonal colors that you can mix and match. glassybaby are both beautiful and functional – as a votive, cup or vase. There are no limits to the moods and feelings that a glassybaby or group of glassybaby can produce – their warm and colored light flickers like we do in everyday life. Whatever the mood, glassybaby is the perfect gift to keep a home inviting and full of spirit.

glassybaby are unique, individual works of art. Each one is carefully hand-blown in their Seattle studio. Made through a multi-layered glass-blowing process, their color comes from different shaded color rods that produce a mix of opaque, translucent, and deeply colored hues. This method creates a thick, strong piece of glass with its many functions and uses. glassybaby are approximately 3.75 x 2.5 inches, and sell for $40 US. Not only is each glassybaby made individually, each is made with love and soul.

To make glassbaby giving simple, founder Lee Rhodes will create her favorite color combinations for gift sets of two to six glassybaby. These will be available at their on-line store at www.glassybaby.com or at their studio at 3406 East Union, Seattle, 98122.

Give back and give light

The glassybaby goodwill program is a way to give and give back at the same time. Every year, glassybaby goodwill designates a select group of colors to benefit local and national organizations contributing to cancer patient care, cancer research and the environment. These causes are close to the heart of glassybaby founder Lee Rhodes, who waged a 7-year battle with lung cancer.

Currently, the goodwill collection includes: goldenrod (proceeds donated to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center to help Hurricane Katrina victims receiving cancer treatment), grandma jane’s caramel (proceeds to help provide tuition assistance for University of Washington students pursuing a career in cancer nursing), true white (benefiting the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance), bedford brown (commissioned by Martha Stewart – proceeds donated to Hole in the Wall Gang, a no-fee camp for youth, ages 7 to 15, with cancer and serious blood diseases) and dream (benefiting Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle). glassybaby donates 10% or $4 from every sale from the goodwill collection.
