GLASSYBABY HONORS THE LIFE OF GRETCHEN MATHER, SEATTLE FOOD ICON
glassybaby dedicates color "seattle sunset" to Mather, with proceeds donated to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center
Seattle, WA – glassybaby has just expanded its goodwill program to honor good friend and glassybaby lover, Gretchen Mather. Gretchen was founder of the popular Gretchen's of Course and Gretchen's Catering who passed away from bone cancer in August 2007.
glassybaby founder Lee Rhodes, herself a three time cancer survivor, reflects, "Gretchen touched so many lives over her years with her warm personality, love of food and incredible business savvy. She was always an ardent supporter of glassybaby, and this is our way to honor her and the strength that she has shared with those around her". The color "seattle sunset is a beautiful orange that glows like an unforgettable summer sunset. It is available at the glassybaby Madrona studio or on-line at www.glassybaby.com for $40, with 10% ($4) being donated to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Gretchen's honor.
To honor those who have walked down her same path, Lee established glassybaby goodwill. Every year, glassybaby goodwill designates a select group of colors to benefit local and national organizations contributing to cancer patient care and cancer research. To date, glassybaby has donated over $300,000 to cancer related causes.

glassybaby was founded in 2001 by Lee Rhodes, a three time cancer survivor. Finding solace in the beauty of glassybaby she started selling them to her family and friends out of her garage, then moved to her first location in 2003. A glassybaby is physically a small colored, glass cup, candleholder, or vase. The light of a candle coming through the glassybaby generates more; it gives warmth to a cold day, a calm token of peace in the busy world. glassybaby are a metaphor to symbolize hope, are humble in spirit but not in beauty.
