A Big Thank You, Seconds Sale Giving

A Big Thank You, Seconds Sale Giving
Dear glassybaby Family,

I've been sitting with a full heart ever since our Second Sale wrapped up in Madrona, and I knew I had to write to you — not as a President sending an update, but as a person who was genuinely moved by every single one of you who showed up.

Walking out to that line and seeing your faces — some of you had been waiting since early morning — wrapped in layers, coffee in hand, laughing with the person you'd just met standing next to you — it was so fun. That's one of the things glassybaby has always been to me: not just a beautiful votive, but a reason for people to find each other. I watched strangers become friends in that line. I heard people sharing stories, swapping wishlists, and cheering each other on when someone found their color. The energy was electric, joyful, and so deeply human. I didn't want it to end.

And because of you — your generosity, your enthusiasm, your willingness to come out and celebrate with us — we raised $50,000 for two organizations that are close to my heart: the Seahawks Women's Association and the First Night Project. Fifty thousand dollars, because of you.

I want to tell you why the First Night Project matters to me personally.

I know what that first night in the hospital feels like. Not from a distance — I know it from the inside. My youngest son was diagnosed with cancer. I remember that night with a clarity that never fades: the fluorescent lights, the unfamiliar sounds, the feeling that the world you knew had simply stopped turning. You are terrified. You are exhausted. And you are desperately trying to hold it together for your child while everything in you is breaking.

What I needed at that moment was a reminder that I wasn't alone. That someone outside those walls was thinking of us. That there was warmth waiting. The First Night Project does exactly that — it reaches teens in the most frightening hours of their lives and says: we see you, and you are not alone. Every dollar we raised goes toward that promise.

And the Seahawks Women's Association — what an extraordinary group of women who pour themselves into this community. They show up, they give back, and they lift people up in ways that quietly change lives. It felt right to stand alongside them and raise money for The First Night Project.

None of this happens without you. Not the $50,000. Not the laughter in line. Not the friends made on a sidewalk in Madrona on a cold, wet Seattle spring morning. This is why glassybaby exists. We make light because you remind us why light matters.
