Brand new: how breaking apart leads to coming 'together again'
to come to light, the little bird
must break apart the egg.
and mother birds have learned
that flying off can be the way
to become who we are,
and come back anew, together again.
The unique patterns and bubbles in this piece begin with shattering: a hand-crafted glass bubble is broken into colorful shards, which are then melted onto the votive in the furnace. In this way, each ‘together again’ is a vivid demonstration of the way that breaking apart can lead to beautiful renewal.
