Lighting Hope: Supporting Families Facing Childhood Cancer
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, a time to recognize the children and families navigating cancer, honor those whose lives have been changed by it, and shine a light on the organizations working every day to make a difference.
At glassybaby, we believe light can be a powerful symbol of hope. Every votive we create carries with it an opportunity to give back, helping support organizations providing care, resources, and compassion to people facing some of life’s most difficult moments.
This September, we’re especially grateful to shine a light on our partnership with the B+ Foundation, an organization dedicated to helping families facing childhood cancer with the immediate, practical support they need.

A Shared Mission with the B+ Foundation
The B+ (Be Positive) Foundation was founded in honor of Andrew McDonough, a young boy whose courageous battle with leukemia inspired a lasting message of positivity, resilience, and generosity.
Today, the B+ Foundation carries Andrew’s spirit forward by supporting families of children with cancer. While a childhood cancer diagnosis can bring overwhelming emotional and medical challenges, families can also face an often overlooked burden: the financial strain that comes with caring for a sick child.
B+ helps ease some of that burden by providing direct financial assistance to families when they need it most. That can mean helping with rent or utility bills, covering travel expenses for treatment, or helping parents take time away from work to be with their child during hospital stays.
These aren't abstract needs. They are the everyday expenses that can become impossible to manage when a family’s world suddenly revolves around doctors, treatments, hospital rooms, and recovery.
By helping families with these immediate needs, B+ gives parents something incredibly valuable: the ability to focus more fully on their child.
Choosing to Give
When we spoke with Carly Bergstein, Executive Director of the B+ Foundation, she shared what continues to inspire her about the community surrounding B+:
“It’s the people who care and support by choice. From the volunteers who choose to give their time, to companies that decide to give away their profits instead of padding their pockets.”
At glassybaby, we believe deeply in that kind of choice.
Our community has helped give millions of dollars toward organizations making a tangible difference in the lives of others. Every purchase, every gift, and every light becomes part of that larger effort.
Why Childhood Cancer Awareness Matters
Childhood Cancer Awareness Month is an opportunity to look beyond statistics and remember the people at the heart of the issue: children, parents, siblings, grandparents, friends, nurses, doctors, researchers, and communities all touched by childhood cancer.
It is also a reminder that support doesn't always have to look the same.
Sometimes it means funding research toward better treatments and cures. Sometimes it means supporting a family with a utility bill or helping them get to the hospital. Sometimes it means simply reminding someone that they aren't alone.
Organizations like the B+ Foundation understand that meaningful support often begins with meeting people exactly where they are.

A Little Light Can Go a Long Way
When you choose glassybaby, you're choosing more than handmade art. You're helping support a culture of giving, and sharing in the work to bring care and hope to people who need it most.
This September, during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we're proud to share the story of the B+ Foundation and the families at the heart of its mission.
Because sometimes hope starts with something small—a helping hand, a moment of kindness, a community coming together, or a little light in a difficult time.
Together, we can be positive. Together, we can make a difference.
