Made from sand, by hand, with heart.
How does sand become something you'd keep at your home for years, or gift to someone you care and love? It starts in our hot shops in Washington and Montana, where skilled artisans turn molten glass into light using breath, gravity, and decades of practice.
A Dance of Glass
Dip, roll, blow, trim, stamp, seal, and anneal. Explore the glassbaby hot shop process.
Step 1: The dip
Color meets clear glass in a single molten moment, melding into one—the start of something that will grow into light.
Step 2: The roll
The roll combines the colors and creates unique patterns, preparing a basic shape for expansion and refinement.
Step 3: The mold
The glassybaby goes back into the 2,300º furnace to gather another layer of molten glass. Then comes a breath of air, and a metal mold to shape its sides into the iconic glassybaby curve.
Step 4: The trim
By hand, the artisan continues shaping the glassybaby until the form is complete. Excess glass is trimmed away, the edges refined to a clean finish.
Step 5: The stamp
Each glassybaby is stamped on the bottom with our logo—one final mark on a piece that's already one of a kind.
Step 6: The anneal
Over a full day, the glassybaby mellows into its finished form, cooling slowly to room temperature inside special ovens.
True "One of a Kindness"
Some come out tall and lithe. Some, stout and curvaceous. Some have wide feet, others thin, elegant lips. Not two are quite the same—each one is beautiful in its own way, just like you.
