Cancer Cartel x glassybaby

As Mother’s Day approaches, we wanted to honor women in a way that feels both meaningful and real by highlighting a nonprofit, Cancer Cartel, led by three incredible women—Kerry Solmonsen, Katy Tinney-Olsen, and Shelly Tinney-Miller.

Cancer Cartel was born from their lived experiences as survivors who understand, firsthand, the physical and financial toll of cancer. Their work is rooted in a simple, powerful belief: when someone is fighting for their life, their energy should be spent on healing—not on how to afford it.

Cancer has a way of touching every part of life—not just the body, but the quiet, everyday rhythms that hold a family together. It shows up in the moments no one sees: the drive to treatment, the unopened bill on the counter, the impossible choices between basic needs and survival. Cancer Cartel exists in that space, offering direct financial relief for essentials like gas, groceries, rent, and utilities—so patients can breathe, even just a little, in the midst of it all.

What sets them apart is not only what they do, but how they do it. Every dollar raised goes directly into the hands of those who need it most, with no restrictions—whether it’s covering bills, putting food on the table, or helping a child stay enrolled in something that brings a sense of normalcy and light. It’s a model built on trust, urgency, and dignity, recognizing that sometimes the most meaningful form of care is simply lifting a burden at the moment it feels heaviest.

Through the support of the glassybaby community, we are committing $5,000 to support five Warrior Scholarships which provide immediate, tangible relief to individuals and families facing cancer.

Here are some meaningful ways to get involved:

  • Cancer Cartels 2026 Gala — An Evening at the Foss Seaport Maritime Museum on May 16, 2026, a night dedicated to breaking down the financial barriers of cancer

We are deeply grateful for those who choose to show up with compassion and action. It is an honor to partner with these remarkable women as they bring light, relief, and hope to so many families when they need it most. Learn more about Cancer Cartel here.
