This is Andrew McDonough.
He should be turning 32 this September.
Andrew was a straight A student and star athlete. Feeling unwell 2 days after a soccer game when he was 14, he went to the doctor.
Andrew never left the hospital.
Andrew and his family discovered he had leukemia during that doctor's visit.
Andrew battled leukemia for 167 days before passing away in 2007,
at the age of 14.
The Andrew McDonough B+ (Be Positive) Foundation honors
the life of Andrew McDonough.
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
In addition to supporting The B+ Foundation all year long ... glassybaby has teamed up with B+ this month.
- 46 children are diagnosed with cancer each school day.
- 49 children die from childhood cancer each week.
- 1 in 3 families will be forced to quit their job, change jobs, or will lose their job, in order to care for their child with cancer.Â
- 1 in 4 families will lose more than 40% of their annual household income because of a work disruption due to their child's cancer treatment.
- 1 in 5 children who receive a new childhood cancer diagnosis are already living in poverty.
B+ is the largest provider of financial assistance to families of children with cancer in the United States.
As of September 2024, glassybaby has donated $231,152 to The B+ Foundation and supported 188 families.
We hope to increase awareness around the immediate and long-term effects of childhood cancer, and support more children with cancer and their families across the country.
In honor of Andrew.
